Orphan Black Comics? Challenge accepted. IDW Publishers, known for their publication of 40 Days of Night and various television property comics, has announced at San Diego Comic Con that Orphan Black is to be added to their repertoire.
Per Chris Rydall, IDWS Chief Creative Office
“Orphan Black, in addition to being a captivating TV series, is a perfect premise for comics. And as the second season has expanded the series in exciting new directions, that has only increased the amount of stories we’ll be able to tell in comic-book form.”
Orphan Black is the story of Sarah Manning and her various clone siblings. After witnessing the suicide of a woman who looks just like her, Sarah discovers that she is one of many clones. Now entering the third season, the BBC America drama is filled with twists, turns, cults and medical mysteries. With the universe of the show ever expanding, comics are a logical step.
The creative team for the Orphan Black comics has not been named yet, but IDW is estimating an arrival date of the beginning of 2015 for the first issue. Artist Nick Runge did the cover art featured above.
