joan-riversJoan Rivers was perhaps best known for her work on The Tonight Show and her distinctive style of comedy in which she poked fun at celebrities and herself. Besides playing a snarky robot in Spaceballs, she made guest appearances on TV shows such as Nip/Tuck, Big Brother, and The Simpsons. She also starred in a reality show Joan & Melissa: Joan Knows Best? alongside her daughter Melissa Rivers. She has also written several books, both humor and self-help.

Joan Rivers was married twice, first to James Sanger for only six months, which was later anulled and then she married Edgar Rosenburg on July 15th, 1965. That marriage lasted until 1987 when Edgar Rosenburg committed suicide. Joan Rivers belonged to Reform synagogue Temple Emanu-El in New York.

On August 28th, she experienced severe complications during throat surgery and on September 4th her daughter announced that she had died at age 81.

We have lost a very funny talent and Joan Rivers will be missed.
