It’s 3:00am and you can’t sleep. Every noise and creak fills you with dread and an impending sense of doom. What is it about the middle of the night that scares us? What is it about 3:00am that’s so special? In 3am: Wonder, Paranoia and the Restless Night, Curator Angela Kingston gathers together some of the art works and explanations from her exhibit on the hour of 3:00am.
From images of folks woken up quickly to a picture, to images of people in sleeping bags freaking out CCTV camera operators in the United Kingdom, there is something deeply eerie and magical about this book from Liverpool University Press. A few short pieces of insomnia and sleep are also included, as well as a special playlist of famous and not so famous songs about 3:00am. Some of the most incredible images are of women woken up in the middle of the night. Their white outfits on white backgrounds show the other-worldliness of someone still caught in a dreamland.
3am: Wonder, Paranoia and the Restless Night is now available from Liverpool Press.
