After a taste of fatherly-advice from Social Media and Sterling Archer, the crew is back in the first episode of Season 6 of Archer: The Holdout.
Six weeks after a shootout at an airport in a former dictator-controlled country and discovering his ex-girlfriend Lana had just had his baby, Archer is deep in a self-loathing bender filled with “cobra whiskey and ladyboy hookers” in Thailand. With a little help from a partnership with the CIA, a 10 million dollar renovation to old ISIS headquarters the gang is back in action to stop a Communist insurgency. Working as freelance agents for the CIA, the crew has to not screw up their first and only shot with the American agency. In the depth of a jungle, Archer comes across a Japanese man in the middle of the forest; a man who still thinks they are in the middle of World War 2. Back at home, Cheryl and Pam have remodeled headquarters with a couple surprises hidden from Mallory.
I forgot how much I missed this show. The gang has left their drug-selling, skinny Pam, Cherlene Country Star days in the past and are back to business. As usually, we already have a few new fun catchphrases, including “Kampai” and “inapprops.” Lana’s complaining about her pregnancy has now morphed into complaining about her baby. I deeply hope the writers give her some of her badass back, because at the moment watching her is like being chewed out by your friends with kids when you’re the only single drunk. Archer continues to be funny and Pam lovingly inappropriate. Oh, and Archer enjoys mixing candy and Vicodin together. He calls them Mike and Vics.
Archer is now back on Thursdays at 10:00pm on FX.
