Waking up once or twice during the night is completely normal for a human being. What happens when we find ourselves entirely unable to sleep and without the ability to function because of it? Dr. Jessamy Hibberd and Jo Usmar have compiled a book of advice and instructions for how to find the sleep you so desperately need in This Book Will Make You Sleep.
This Book Will Make You Sleep first and foremost warns that if you have a condition like sleep apnea, severe anxiety or depression you should immediately seek medical help and then return to the book. I guess they are only mild miracle workers. As someone who has suffered from depression and anxiety, that portion of the book left me with a heavy heart. However, as I continued to read through the pages, I understand why. Much of This Book Will Make You Sleep is designed to be step by step practical advice for the average human being who has simply lost their ability to sleep due to the day to day rigors of life. If you have a medical condition, it’s very unlikely that the basic tips and tricks will work.
This Book Will Make You Sleep is practical and interesting. Hibberd and Usmar include fun facts and figures and make reading about sleep less or a chore and more of an interesting way to spend a few hours.
This Book Will Make You Sleep is available February 3, 2015 from Quercus Press.
