As a super Fangirl for Order of the Good Death I tend to find myself reading some pretty good books and finding fascinating art having to do with bones and mortality. Enter in a post from a few days ago featuring a jewelry artist in Portland, Oregon. Midnight Snack Jewelry has a motto: “Eaten, Regurgitated, Dissected & Reconstructed.” This specialty jewelry is made from what artist Amanda Fischer finds in the heat-treated remains of owl pellets. These range from small rodent leg bones, to mandibles to skulls and they are beautiful. The scavenged pellets come from the forests on Sauvie Island, usually from Barn Owls.
I ordered my earrings on the 12th and they were shipped out the very next day. They don’t mess around. She also wrote a handwritten thank you note.
While I was eager to get to the earrings themselves, the packaging was just far too cute:
Midnight Snack Jewelry is available on Etsy.
Disclaimer: I purchased these earrings with my own money. They were not discounted and in no way has MidnightSnackJewelry made any attempt to buy my loyalty. This is just one freaking cool Etsy store.
