Today my two world’s collided and I couldn’t be prouder. As a Quiz Mistress for Geeks Who Drink, I’ve met some of the coolest quizzers, dumped out some crazy trivia and loved every second of it. Today SYFY Channel announced they have greenlit Geeks Who Drink as a weekly competition television show on their network with Zachary Levi as the Host and Executive Producer. It’s as if the Nerd gods came down from Nerdvana and have gifted the world with this tv show.
Here’s how the TV Show is going to work:
In each installment of Geeks Who Drink, two teams of self-proclaimed “trivia geeks” battle it out in rapid-fire quizzes that cover topics from pop culture to science fiction. Each team consists of three players – a celebrity team captain and two trivia pros. After three rounds of raucous game-play and (mostly) friendly competition, the winning team will earn bragging rights, a spot on the Geeks Who Drink leaderboard and a bevy of prizes to geek out over.
That’s right, trivia geeks outside of the bars ladies and gents. Levi also added, “To be the executive producer and host of Geeks Who Drink is an exciting opportunity to broaden my experience on both sides of the camera. Geeks Who Drink is such a fresh take on the game show genre, and something that we at The Nerd Machine believe will resonate with everyone who loves trivia and pop culture. We’re looking forward to collaborating with the teams at Syfy, Kinetic Content and Condé Nast Entertainment.”
Levi is no stranger to gaming and general nerdom. He co-founded The Nerd Machine with David Coleman and recently signed a deal with Universal TV. Working with him to produce are Chris Coelen, Karrie Wolfe, Corin Nelson, Dawn Ostroff, Joe Labracio and David Coleman.
A little bird told me they might be doing casting now too…..
I’ll be in my bunk.
