In Friendship is Magic #30, it’s time for Ponyville Days, when all of the ponies come together to celebrate the history of Ponyville. This year they decided to put a commemorative plaque where the the first structure in Ponyville is. There is a question on whether the first structure was Sweet Apple Acres or Skinkin Rich’s shop. The argument is tearing Ponyville apart even causing a rift between Rarity and Apple Jack. Rarity starts to rally the other unicorns to attack Apple Jack’s family with pioneer style clothes and Apple Jack’s family starts launching pies in response. When Twilight Sparkle returns she finds the town at war. Frustrated by the fighting the Mayor wants to cancel Ponyville Days. Twilight receives a letter from Princess Celestia about how excited everyone is about the upcoming festivities. With the town torn apart and a mess from the fighting, Twilight isn’t sure what she is going to do.
This issue was interesting. It’s different from any of the previous issues because there’s no real underlying message with this story. The girls are torn apart because no one can pin point who founded the city. The best part about this issue was seeing the different background characters including characters inspired by The Big Lobowski.
