Holy Smokes: ‘Cigar and Spirits Magazine’ Hosts West Coast Cigar and Spirits Tasting Event

The Newport Beach Hyatt was engulfed in cigar smoke last night for the West Coast Cigar and Spirits Tasting Event. Top notch cigar companies provided attendees with samples of their wares and some of the finest names in spirits offered tasters of their liquor. On hand were OM (Organic Mixology),  2 Gingers Irish Whiskey, N0let Gin, Bare Organic Mixers, Fireball,  Ventura Limocello,  Gubba Rum, Ketel One Vodka, Purple Haze Liqueur,  and my personal favorites of the evening MyMosa and Voco.  MyMosa is a blend of natural orange juice and Savignon Blanc that can be stored up to a year. Voco is a blended coconut water and vodka beverage where one cannot taste the alcohol. Can you say dangerously delicious?

I’m not normally a huge fan of cigars, but it was hard not to be excited about them when talking to the vendors. Most vendors were happy to answer questions and give a brief history of their products. To their credit, only one decided to tell me what I should smoke because I am “a lady.” He lost points for that. Among the vendors were Cesar Cigars, Cult Cigars, Drew Estate, Gurkha, Kings, La Palina, Monte Cristo, Miami Cigar, Rocky Patel, Ventura Cigar Company, Veritas, Villiger, Wilson Adams,  and Zandergreg. Some such as Vertias were incredibly generous, giving more than one cigar to take home.

Cigar and Spirits Magazine provided belly dancers, a juggler and a hula hoop dancer for entertainment. Lamborghini and Victory Motorcycles were also on hand to promote their companies as well. Clothed in suits and nice dresses, the crowd ended up in a cloud of smoke towards the end of the event as attendees began to smoke their cigars and check to see if their numbers were called at a raffle.

All in all, the event was lovely and a great deal of fun for all involved.
