When I first stumbled across Gracie and Frankie, I never thought that I would love it as much as I do. I told myself there would be too much of an age gap to really connect with the characters, but I pushed the thoughts aside because some of my favorite actors grace this show. I was addicted by the first episode and haven’t been able to put it down. Netflix once again has done an amazing job with their recent original show Grace and Frankie.
The plot is just a jumping off part for this show, as the story expands to include the building of a beautiful relationship, starting life over in your 70’s, and acceptance. The story takes place as two women, Grace (Jane Fonda) and Frankie (Lily Tomlin) find themselves at dinner with their husbands (Sam Waterson and Martin Sheen) when a drama bomb is dropped. It is clear from the first minute that these two lades only have one thing in common; their husbands are law partners.
As dinner continues, the real reason for them meeting comes out and sends their lives spiraling into comedy chaos. In one instance, the only other person they can trust to understand is the one person they can’t stand. The episodes continue as we watch Grace and Frankie deal with piecing their life back together, all while building a friendship for the ages.
Opposites do attract as Grace- your straight laced, cultured, high society dame- is thrust into living with Frankie- the weed smoking, hippie painter, that has no secrets. Just wait until you get to Jam Lube.
This show all around is amazing, from the acting, writing, and creative team. Want to know more? Then check out this preview below and start watching episodes of Gracie and Frankie tonight on Netflix.
