SyFy is continuing its latest attempt to make every awesome book ever into a TV Show. Okay, that’s just how it feels. SyFy is teaming up with Oscar-nominated producer and hunk of man Bradley Cooper, Oscar-Winning producer Graham King (The Departed, Argo) and Todd Phillips (The Hangover, Old School) to turn Dan Simmon’s Hugo Award-winning and best-selling novel, Hyperion, into a mini series. SyFy likes to call these event series.
Set on the eve of the possible end of the world, an entire galaxy is at war. Hyperion tells the story of seven pilgrims who go on a voyage for answers. Of course, each of these seven carries a terrible secret and one of them may hold all of humanity’s survival in his hands.
“It is an absolute honor to enter into the world created by Dan Simmons that is arguably one of the greatest works of science fiction, and help realize it for television audiences,” said executive producer Cooper.
“Hyperion is a science fiction masterpiece. Dan Simmons’ universe is unique and darkly compelling, and the creative team assembled here is simply as good as it gets,” said Jeff Wachtel, President & Chief Content Officer, NBCUniversal Cable Entertainment.
Well, the desire is there. The source material is there. Keep your fingers crossed. So far, no word from NBCUniversal or SyFy on when production begins.
