Phx Comic Art Expo 2015

Share

This past Saturday I was invited to join The Heroes and Villains of Tomorrow at the first EVER Phx Comic Art Expo hosted by Ottawa University and Spiral Ink Comics. This event was a single room location with a lot of really interesting comic book authors, artists and crafts people. The group that invited me is a cosplay charity company whose sole aim is to turn cosplay of any form (as long as it is appropriate for all ages) into a tool of healing, fun and entertainment. The Heroes and Villains traveled among the attendees and shared their efforts on providing quality cosplay characters to ANYONE in need (children, bored adults, growing artists..etc.). It was definitely one of the smallest events I have ever attended however; the University’s representatives were extremely polite and a lot of fun to interact with. I really hope this expo survives to next year.

Spiral Ink Comics had an AMAZING display of digital illustrations and a “Sty’ch in Tyme” debuted their incredible geek accessory clothing line. This event also gave me a chance to really TALK to local cosplayers. At larger events I find myself swarmed or swarming cosplayers. This is not conducive to a “Hey, how did you craft that doo-hicky” conversation. Despite the lull in activity (which was welcome compared to the mania of most events I attend) the atmosphere remained positive.

Here are a few photos of this event’s inaugural year to whet your appetite…
