Since I have taken a dive in the Gaming Community, I have had a chance to meet amazing people and play some incredible games. I was so thrilled for a chance to meet with game developer Adam Rosenblum. I had seen snipits of his game, Parallax: Warbands at Comic-Con, but never had the time to sit down and get a real hard look. Even just the small glances I got from around the convention, I knew this game was going to be huge.
Parallax: Warbands is a new Miniature game that is fairly easy to pick up. I say this, because I have never played a miniature game in my life until last week. Like most game developers, trying to get their projects off the ground Adam Rosenblum took to Kickstarter. In just one week, he already raised more then half his goal of $15,000. Not to mention snagged the title as a Kickstarter Staff Pick. I’m telling you when I say, this is the game you don’t want to miss. Especially if you are a miniatures lover.
Parallax: Warbands gives players a chance to build a Warband of approximately 4-8 highly customizable adventurers and mercenaries. At the start of the game, you get to choose different missions that you believe you can accomplish during the game. These missions are for your eyes only and make the game so interesting. I loved trying to figure out his missions by the way he was playing and working on not letting him accomplish his; while trying to succeed in my plans. The missions are the most important part of the game with the ability to flip the table, even if you were victorious during the battle. For example I lost the battle as my last guy died, but I won the game because as I accomplished my cards I won points. Where as Adam didn’t finish his mission and lost points.
While I loved playing, what really grabbed my attention were the Miniatures themselves. Now of course, when you back this game you are not going to get the amazing painted ones I got to play with, but why would you want that anyways. The painting is half the fun! The attention to detail and weapons some of the Miniatures have, is just breathtaking. I wish I could just have an army of Elephants from this game.
This game is well balanced and moves rather quickly between players, but not too fast allowing you to lose time on strategizing. I just can’t say it enough, I had a blast playing Parallax: Warbands. This game is perfect for all miniature loves but especially for players like me. You know, the people who want to try their hand at Miniatures but don’t want to get into something super heavy or complicated for their first time.
Parallax: Warbands is a game that everyone should invest in. So share the link with your friends, shout loud and proud you are backing them, and lets help them reach their goal! The world of Miniatures needs this game in its midst. Everything you need to know is on their Kickstarter.
