We finally have a domestic trailer for Pride and Prejudice and Zombies
now, and it looks like Burr Steers is out to emphasize the zombie-horror part of the book. After a good scream and zombie scare, the trailer moves to a somber narration by Elizabeth (Lily James) as she tells of the “Black Plague” and the “few of us that are left…must bring the fight to them.” It’s pretty standard stuff for a combat-oriented movie. The rest of the trailer is fight scenes, preparing for battle, and a serious few lines about marriage. There is none of the strange balance between the courtesies of polite society (where zombies are always called “unmentionables”) and fighting that Seth Grahame Smith created in the book.
Hopefully, this is a trailer giving us what Lionsgate thinks horror enthusiasts want, not an accurate portrayal of the final film.
