The Other Side of the Door is every parent’s nightmare. After a horrific accident, a mother finds herself desperately wanting to make contact with her dead child to apologize. However, they live in a foreign country and to do so she resorts to supernatural help. Of course, she doesn’t follow the rules and there are unintended consequences. I have no problem imagining Sarah Wayne Callies in this role, thanks to her time on The Walking Dead. Watching the trailer, I kept wanting to refer to the dead son as “Carl.”
Here’s the official synopsis:
A family lives an idyllic existence abroad until a tragic accident takes the life of their young son. The inconsolable mother learns of an ancient ritual that will bring him back to say a final goodbye. She travels to an ancient temple, where a door serves as a mysterious portal between two worlds. But when she disobeys a sacred warning to never open that door, she upsets the balance between life and death.
The Other Side of the Door comes to theaters March 11, 2016.
