Once again Phoenix Comicon met and exceeded convention expectations by offering a variety of merchandise, guests, panels, meetups and indoor/outdoor events for all walks of geek/nerd life! This three day event sparked happiness in the eyes of west valley Arizonans last weekend. Friday morning was met with great enthusiasm from attendees. Dozens of excited nerds, geeks, cosplayers, families and media waited outside the University of Phoenix Stadium’s Bird Cage for the moment when the gates would open and they could claim their prizes: treasured single day and full event passes! By early afternoon the convention was buzzing with activity. Outdoor events were in full swing, food trucks had arrived to feed the hungry masses and the exhibitor hall was alive with excitement! Staff members, such as Fabio Connelley (presented in the image below), assisted members with locating their personal interests and helped them navigate a busy convention floor.
The varied categories of exhibitors, artists and merchants made shopping very easy. Those interested in picking up that special geek toy or article of clothing were provided with plenty of options such as…
Star Wars Backpacks
Figurines and Plushies
Pins, Buttons and Jewelry
And MUCH, MUCH more!
There was a wide array of media visitors prepared to take photos of cosplayers, meetups for cosplayers to network and a costume stage outside for the costumed savants to strut their stuff like these three ladies preparing for a Magic Knight Rayearth photo shoot.
Saturday and Sunday revved into gear with even more PCC Fan Fest members patrolling the programming and exhibitor halls. Families rushed to get their pictures taken with the uniquely themed Santa Claus that changed every few hours. This family captured their holiday moment with a Santa Trooper…
Even with a few technological hiccups (like the credit card terminal failure Saturday morning and the free photo booth feed failures on Sunday) the convention ran with a calm I rarely witness at such events. So, if you are in Phoenix, AZ sometime the first or second week of December next year put aside a day to galavant with the nerds of Phoenix at our newest winter convention: Fan Fest!
