The monkey is certainly delightful on TV, and the program has won numerous awards over its time on television, winning two Emmy® Awards for Outstanding Children’s Animated Program and twelve additional nominations across various categories.

The monkey and his friend, the Man in the Yellow Hat, started life in 1941 in a children’s book series by Margret Rey and her husband Hans Augusto Rey, who wrote a total of seven books–and who had some pretty busy and exciting lives themselves. The original book series has been followed by two additional Curious George books by various authors and artists, some based on the televised adventures, bringing things full circle.
