Alamo Drafthouse to Bring The Original Star Wars Trilogy Back to Theaters

A few months back, Alamo Drafthouse provided the opportunity to watch all the Star Wars movies back to back before seeing The Force Awakens. Now, these champions of film are giving us back the Original Star Wars Trilogy in theater.  The best part? They are bringing this opportunity from Coast to Coast and not just keeping it locked down in Texas.
The back-to-back-to back triple feature will take place in a single setting, bringing us from Luke’s time on Tattooine all the way to dancing Ewok’s.
“It’s always been a dream to show the original STAR WARS trilogy again – somehow, someway,” says Alamo Drafthouse’s VP of Special Events, Henri Mazza. “Seeing the original trilogy on the big screen for the first time is a real life-altering event and just a supreme amount of fun. When the films became available to book for screenings like these, we jumped at the chance to do something big.”
Many dates and locations are still to be determined, but the Return of the Trilogy screenings will taken place in venues at over 20 cities through the month of August. All the films will be presented in their pre-1997 re-release format. Yeah, that’s right; the originals without those weird additions. In other words, Han shot first.
Below, is some more detailed information from Alamo Drafthouse:
Tickets for most markets will go on sale at on May 4th, otherwise known as Star Wars Day: May the 4th Be With You.
More than just an epic triple-feature, each “Return of the Trilogy” show will be in its own unique celebratory event, featuring specially curated video content before and between films, contests, props to bring the power of the Force to life, and other special surprises. And coming dressed as your favorite Jedi, scoundrel pilot, or rebel scum will be very much encouraged.
