One summer movie people have been approaching with understandable caution is a remake of Ben-Hur. With William Wyler’s 1959 movie starring Charlton Heston in the background, this movie is going to have to work hard to create an impact. Directed by Timur Bekmambetov, the movie stars Jack Huston as Ben-Hur, Nazanin Boniadi as Esther,”the woman he loves,” and Haluk Bilinger as Simonides.
Whatever else the movie does or does not do, it will definitely have to have a chariot race. Everyone knows about the chariot race; it was even included in The Phantom Menace, if in a slightly altered form, and Paramount has included images of the man in full racing mode with this batch of images.
Ben-Hur is the epic story of Judah Ben-Hur (Jack Huston), a prince falsely accused of treason by his adopted brother Messala (Toby Kebbell), an officer in the Roman army. Stripped of his title, separated from his family and the woman he loves (Nazanin Boniadi), Judah is forced into slavery. After years at sea, Judah returns to his homeland to seek revenge, but finds redemption. Based on Lew Wallace’s timeless novel, Ben-Hur: A Tale of the Christ. Also starring Morgan Freeman and Rodrigo Santoro.
