Francisca is a child who understands death and anatomy. Her mother, a former surgeon in Portugal, has gone out of her way to make Francisca comfortable with these difficult subjects. One afternoon, a mysterious visitor traumatizes Francisca and takes away the idillyic life she’s had on the farm with her mother. In Francisca’s older years, she attempts to connect with the world around her, leading to a very dark film.
The Eyes of My Mother is shot entirely in black and white, giving the film an even creepier vibe. It is the feature directorial debut of Nicolas Pesce.
The Eyes of My Mother premieres from Magnet Releasing on December 2nd.
