Abed from Community would be delighted after this announcement. Donald Glover, famous for his role as at Troy on Community, has officially been cast as young Lando Calrissian for the yet to be titled Han Solo Star Wars stand-alone film. The film is directed by Phil Lord and Christopher Miller. Alden Ehrenreich has already been cast as Han Solo. The film depicts the two in their younger days, long before The Empire Strikes Back.
“We’re so lucky to have an artist as talented as Donald join us,” said Lord and Miller. “These are big shoes to fill, and an even bigger cape, and this one fits him perfectly, which will save us money on alterations. Also, we’d like to publicly apologize to Donald for ruining Comic-Con for him forever.”
Okay, okay, so Glover is actually best known for his role on the FX series Atlanta (but us Community fans have to stick together). He was also in the film The Martian, and is in the upcoming Spider-Man: Homecoming. The man is super talented and a great fit for such a famous space scoundrel.
The untitled Han Solo movie is set for release in 2018.
