Oh boy…if this comic isn’t a giant flashing neon sign pointing at the ridiculous election going on right now…I don’t know what is. But that’s an aside, because really this comic is all about what we will do for family. What pride we shall set aside in order to keep our family safe. It’s a hard battle for Adam. Does he listen to his father, the man who has been with him all his life teaching him what is good and right, and to stand up for those beliefs? Or does he listen to the whispers?
This is the second issue and thankfully you get a little bit more of Adam’s backstory, including his first kiss. That person or demon or I’m not entirely sure what she is, turns out to be a Very Important Person, who shows back up a quite pivotal moment in Adam’s existence. You also get to see a bit more of Adam’s dad, the great Zeb who was, rightfully so, a huge influence on Adam. You get to see his parenting style, his abilities, and his temper. All things that shaped Adam, although it makes you wonder, did all those things really shape Adam to be the kind of man who would listen to the whispers? The question is, did Adam listen to the Mud King’s offer? And you know what? I’m not sure. I want to say he didn’t get the chance. Not before the band of Mosak’s appeared to thwart the Mud King.
And that alone brings more questions. Where have the Mosak’s been hiding? Who does the owl-creature belong to? What about the giant lizard-creature? Also, is the pink demon-girl whose not really pink a good guy? Ugh. This comic does not answer any of my questions form the last issue..
I will say this. Despite hating cliffhangers, and not really knowing what is going on, I love this story. And I can’t wait to see what happens next.
