Hello Edith! So what drew you to start cosplaying?

For months I cosplayed as Lara Croft from Tomb Raider (2013), because I love the character and the games. When I decided to cosplay, the choice was obvious to me. There was an opportunity to be like the character who inspired and inspire me for years!

I LOVE when a character inspires someone to be more than they are. It’s incredible to see your transformations! What inspires your cosplay style?

Favorite characters from games or movies are always an inspiration for me! I love ambitious, courageous female characters!

I began in november 2014, but I was interested with cosplay earlier. One day I found the courage and I followed the intuition, just like my favorite character, Lara Croft!

Courage is a surprisingly frequent word used when starting cosplay. So few people understand what it takes to put on a costume you have made, altered and/or bought and BECOME the character that so many others treasure. It can be a bit stressful in the beginning but finding a character you love certainly makes it easier. What you expect from cosplay and how do you think it will influence your future?

Cosplay has changed and is changing my life! It’s a wonderful feeling, when the game designers appreciate your work. It takes me a lot of time and effort, but I can’t imagine to live differently! It means a lot to me and I appreciate that many are interested in my work. I don’t know what awaits me, but… I found the courage to follow my intuition!

I like your gusto! It sounds like Tomb Raider is one of your favorite cosplays, do you have another that you love?

Yennefer from The Witcher. When I decided to make the cosplay I didn’t know how to begin! I tried to find as much images and information about constructing the costume as I could. It took me a lot of time and effort, especially the jacket for Yennefer, I made a list of every little detail of the costume!

Yennefer is definitely one of those master costume pieces because of all the leather and the intricate sewing details. Do you prefer to work in a certain type of crafting medium?

Almost all the elements of my cosplays are handmade. I use miscellaneous materials, tailor’s chalk and masking tape during work. For characterization and visual effects I use especially Collodion and F/X Blood from Kryolan, which have an influence on the film, theater and television industries for over 70 years!

Kryolan has some amazing products. Thank you for sharing a bit about your methodology. Do you have any favorite cosplayers you would like to give a shout out to?

I have a few favorite cosplayers, that I admire: Cyperian, Jenn Croft and Meagan Marie.

Woh! Those are some great costumers! Thank you for providing all of us with their pages Edith! Before we part ways, what advice would you like to give the cosplayers of today?

Don’t be afraid to try. Ask for advices. Look at it as an opportunity to learn new things! Have fun!

Thank you and happy crafting Edith! For more on Ethlaine cosplay she can be visited on…
