‘Glop’ is the Goop Parody We Didn’t Know We Needed

glop-coverIf you’re like me, a 400$ pair of casual shorts is out of your price range and a baby alpaca yarn rabbit jacket is probably not something you want to purchase for your accident prone child. Welcome to the world of Gwenyth Paltrow’s lifestyle website Goop.  Now enter Glop: Nontoxic, Expensive Ideas That Will Make You Look Ridiculous and Feel Pretentious, the parody book from comedian Gabrielle Moss. This small hardcover book is absolutely hilarious in its take on the expensive lifestyle magazine it parodies.

Feast your eyes on sections like “Natural Botox: Mummification and then Lying Motion in a Sarcophagus” or “Sitting Very Still & Staring Ahead Blankly: For Him and Her”. While most parody books tend to get a little old after the first few pages, the joke in this one just keeps getting funnier as the book goes on. Just when you think you’ve read enough for the night, Moss lays out something like How to Pick Your Travel Shaman and the laughter starts all over again.

One word of caution: there may be some folks out there who miss that this is a joke. Do not try these suggestions at home. The detoxes in this book will kill you and are totally meant as a joke.
