The goofy, light-hearted trailer for Spark: A Space Tail makes it look like a cute film to take kids to. There is an over-the-top evil emperor with a delightfully evil laugh, a downtrodden empire, a missing prince, and a ragtag bag of rebels. This seems terribly familiar, but not necessarily the worse for that–it looks like a bit of brightly-colored, light-hearted, wish-fulfillment to watch with the family in the air-conditioned theater. Adults may not be wildly entertained, but they won’t be utterly bored, either. There are some charming touches–like the adorable little Floyd–and they have some top voice talent in there; none other than Patrick Stewart is voicing the captain and Susan Sarandon is voicing Bananny.
The movie is coming to theaters April 14, 2017. Will you be there?
