“Take me to your leader,” I think these might be The Doctor’s favorite words to say. He sure does employ them a lot. In Beneath The Waves Part 2, he finally realizes that the seaweed golems who keep rising out of the sea to attack the townspeople; physically and Hattie; mentally, are trying to give him a message. It only takes him being put in a coma to figure it out. But once he awakes to find the building under siege and Hattie once again being tortured with psychic visions, he understands and offers himself. He promises to come back for Hattie, but this is the Doctor and he is unpredictable on his best days.
There are so many things we still don’t know about what is happening in the sleepy northern town. Why there? Who is controlling them? And was that the Master playing innocent doctor taking care of the coma patients? I’ll be interested to see how long it takes for us to get the big reveal. My money is on Mike, the dude who doesn’t seem to be on the up and up, though when it comes to the Whoniverse, it could be anyone really. That is what is so great about Doctor Who.
This arc has been fun to read since Hattie is a pretty cool companion and seems to be right on par with the Doctor in sassiness and brain power, but when he leaves her, how will she react? That’s what I’m looking forward to seeing. Other companions might don a scuba suit and go after him, but will Hattie? We won’t know until the next issue which I’m looking forward to immensely.
The Twelfth Doctor: Beneath the Waves Part 2 is like most all other Doctor Who comics a 5 star read. I’m a fan and I don’t see that changing anytime soon.
