Bloodborne

Bloodborne is the newest game tie in comic from Titan comics.  I should admit that I had this game. I loved the way it looked, the idea of it, but holy crap did I suck at it. Like I always died straight away. So I gave the game to my little brother (he’s not that little don’t worry) and he is doing much better at it than I. I’m telling you this, because I don’t know the story past the opening scene and that first little area where I always died.

So back to Bloodborne the comic. Titan is killing it. I swear. It captures the mood and the art of the game so well, I felt a little bit sucked in and that’s exactly what you want.  I really liked getting more in-depth with the story, because as much as I love the monsters and the death and the carnage, it’s all just dressing to the story.  And the story is one of my favorite kinds; a quest. The Hunter must learn about transcending the hunt and he needs paleblood to do it, and lo and behold there is a child with, or maybe who is, paleblood.

I loved that you also saw the cyclical nature of the game written really well into this issue. It may seem repetitive, but it’s a really important aspect I feel, and I thought the writers handled it well. The quick visit to the Hunter’s Dream was also well done, though I kinda hoped for more time to be spent there. Perhaps they’ll do that in coming issues.

All and all, for a first issue, this was a solid outing. I’m really interested to see how the story progresses. 3.5 out of 5 stars to Bloodborne issue 1

Bloodborne issue 1 is being released by Titan comics on Feb 21, 2018
