BMI, aka Broadcast Music Inc, is presenting legendary film composer John Williams with an award to celebrate his status as icon in the film and television industry. Star Wars, Harry Potter, Indiana Jones; John Williams has scored some of the biggest franchises in film history. Williams’ music is one of the many reasons us nerds get so emotionally involved in movies like E.T., Jurassic Park, Schindler’s List, and I challenge you not to get the chills when you hear “Hedwig’s Theme” from Harry Potter.
The 34th annual BMI Film, TV and Visual Media Awards takes place Wednesday May 9, 2018 at the Beverly Wilshire Hotel Ballroom in Beverly Hills, CA. This event will celebrate the contributions of John Williams, and a few others in the film and television industry. Also being celebrated are composers Laura Karpman, Miriam Cutler, Lolita Ritmanis and Rick Baitz. Expected to attend are (of course) John Williams, Alan Silvestri (Infinity Wars), Ludwig Goransson (Black Panther), Alexandre Desplat (The Shape of Water), and James Newton Howard (A Series of Unfortunate Events).
