Welcome to the spoiler free review of Avengers: Infinity War. I saw this Marvel Studio production on Friday, April 27th and it took me DAYS to figure out how to share what happened with all of you and NOT spoil the movie. So here is what to expect from the start to the end of Phase 3 MCU.
Infinity War packs a punch. The audience in taken to Nowhere, Earth, Titan and a score of other MCU worlds all in the span of 2.5 hours. The character roster is immense and there are moments when you wished movies had breaks like theater performances. Here is a quick break down of characters YOU will see represented in this film…
Those on Earth…
- Captain America
- Black Widow
- Scarlet Witch
- War Machine
- Black Panther
Those in space…
- Star Lord
Those in space, on Earth and everywhere in between…
- Iron Man
- Iron Spider
- Dr. Strange
- Thanos’ Children/Guard
There are MORE characters to list (I’m not kidding) but these are a bulk of those who you will see.
So what IS Infinity War about? For those who are unfamiliar with the comic history of Marvel here is a quick synopsis:
Thanos once lived on a lush world. His people, like humanity and others in the galaxy, were using the finite resources of their planet too quickly. He had a vision, a vision to balance all of the universe with a snap of his fingers. There are six stones in the universe. Each stone bears a unique ability. With these stones Thanos could save the universe, other worlds, from the tragedy that his own home world succumbed to. Thus a race to collect the Infinity Stones was born. Lines were drawn, sides were taken and the impact of morality was weighed on the universe. Faced with oblivion, heroes from all corners of the galaxy gathered to stop a genocide they deemed immoral.
In the comics, Thanos was trying to kill parts of the universe to impress Lady Death. That does not seem to be his motivator in this movie (THANK GOODNESS). In fact, the way Thanos is portrayed really makes you wonder: is he REALLY a bad guy? Or is he simply a visionary who has gone astray?
I encourage ALL of you to see this movie. You WILL laugh, you MAY cry but by the end of this film you WILL feel exhausted.
