Sailor Mercury Costume Review

Hello everyone! Today we’re reviewing a costume sponsored by We were contacted by them to review their new Sailor Mercury costume. Here is what our Cosplay Savant, Sam, had to say…

Quality, Accuracy & Sizing

This costume is made from polyester, mid-grade spandex, mesh and foam with a hint of pleather/vinyl. Other than some loose strings and a broken snap on the crotch panel this outift was a success.
Quality = 7 out of 10 for attention to wearability/comfort.

The accuracy is impeccable. Halloween Costume’s Mercury is true to the 1990’s version of Sailor Mercury from the movies and television series. It includes: Pleated skirt, V shaped hip roll, Body suit, shoulder rolls, gloves with arm rolls, sailor collar, front bow, back bow, choker and tiara. The only items missing from this ensemble are Mercury’s wig/hair and her boots.

The size charts on’s website are true however; if you are taller then you should go a size up BUT you will encounter issues with the bodysuit being too big in the torso (although the bodysuit length and skirt length will be accurate). If you are of average height but between sizes I would suggest going down instead of up (as the body suit runs big). If you are curvier definitely order what is true to your size or go up one to accommodate your bust/hips.

In summary, this is a very good costume for $49.99. The fabric steams easily (DO NOT use an iron with costumes made from this type of polyester) and has a great deal of detail incorporate into it. Halloween Costumes/Fun Costumes also has the wig for sale (for Mercury). If Mercury is not your favorite you can also purchase: Sailor Moon and/or Sailor Mars. Each has a transformation wand available for purchase (for Mercury’s boots I would suggest looking at Amazon or buying white boots and painting them blue).
