Star Wars + LEGOs = Haute Couture

Share

You can do anything with LEGOs, it seems. Build houses, make superhero movies, and create fashionable Star Wars wear. Ashley Eckstein, host and founder of Her Universe, wore a LEGO dress designed by Andrew MacLaine and Nathan Sawya to the third annual Her Universe Fashion Show.

Not only is the dress made out of LEGOs (which is pretty amazing in itself), it features a design inspired by Ahsoka Tano from Star Wars: Clone Wars, making it a geeky winner. Unfortunately, it isn’t the sort of dress one can wear around town: with over 10,000 bricks, the dress weighs a full twenty-five pounds. LEGO + fashion, stunning, but not for the faint of heart.

Twenty-seven designers competed in this Her Universe Fashion Show, and pop culture ruled with designs based on Star Wars, DC, Marvel, Harry Potter, Pokémon, and a host of others. The fashion show’s finale will be on Comic-Con HQ on Thursday, July 28 at which point voting will open on HerUniverse.com so that voters can choose the winner. As incredible as Ashley Eckstein’s dress is, one hopes there is some lighter-weight attire in the collection.

What do you think? Would you wear a LEGO Star Wars dress?
