Everafter Vol 1: The Pandora Protocol

In a post-Fables world, what has become of the characters that we’ve grown to love in the Vertigo series? Many have arrived in the mundane world, where magic has snuck itself out and can either be used to help humanity, or cause some pretty nasty chaos. Snow White’s son, Connor Wolf, is young and restless. In short, he’s perfect for a group called The Shadow Players. This network of agents includes Bo Peep, Peter Piper, Hansel, and others. When a little girl with intense magic is discovered, the Shadow Players are called upon to bring her back to keep her from becoming a danger. Unfortunately, Hansel has other plans. In his attempt to kill the child and end what he feels is an untold evil, he is literally exploded to bits by her powers. Bo Peep fares a bit better, but is also injured. The little girl escapes, only to murder and then resurrect her own family. They aren’t the only ones to be resurrected. Hansel is painfully reconstructed using magic and kept somewhere between life and death by his own organization. Connor Wolf begins his first stages of missions with The Shadow Players and is put on a case in an attempt to prevent Native American religious artifacts from being stolen for unknown purposes. He uses his shape shifting abilities and ends up bunking at a version of Alcatraz that has been repurposed to bring back the spirits of Native Americans that have gone on before. Uncontrolled, they could cause chaos in San Francisco. With two different major cases running side by side, with intervention on all sides, this graphic novel is difficult to put down.
