There are few names more recognizable in shoes than Manolo Blahnik. Whether it is his eccentric mannerisms, exotic designs, or intense attention to detail, Blahnik’s shoes have devotees like you wouldn’t believe. In the new documentary, Manolo: The Boy Who Made Shoes for Lizards, Blahnik’s life is told in colorful vignettes and interviews with celebrities and fashion icons. The film features Anna Wintour, Rihanna, Iman, Naomi Campell, and Rupert Everett. Keep an eye our for some of the more eccentric legends of fashion and photography.

The documentary is created by longtime fashion journalist Michael Roberts. He has the interesting perspective of not only understanding the ins and outs of shoes and the fashion industry, but Roberts is connected to many figures in Blahnik’s inner circle. The documentary shows viewers not just clips of past shows and Blanik’s experiences, but also includes personal anecdotes from his close friends and those who helped get him started.
