Disney has a ton of film we’re dying to see this year, including A Wrinkle in Time and Black Panther. Today, Disney released the full list:
Here’s what we’re looking forward to.
Black Panther
T’Challa has taken over rule in the land of Wakanda after the death of his father. He is immediately tested when an old enemy comes back, and the Black Panther must take up the mantle to protect his people and his land. Black Panther premieres February 16, 2018.
A Wrinkle in Time
Based on the incredible book by Madeline L’engle, A Wrinkle in Time follows the adventures of Meg Murray and her younger brother Charles Wallace. After their father goes missing, Meg, Charles Wallace, and a classmate named Calvin, end up on the adventure of their lives, traveling through space and time with a cast of inter-dimensional beings. The film has Mindy Kaling, Oprah Winfrey and Reese Witherspoon. Storm Reid stars as Meg Murray, Chris Pine as her father, and Zach Galifianakis as the Happy Medium. You can’t make this casting up and we’re crazy excited. A Wrinkle in Time comes to theaters March 9. 2018.
Avengers: Infinity War
While Disney tried to keep this one a secret for a while, with the incredible cast and recent Marvel movie successes, it was only a matter of time before we all found out. The film spans characters from pretty much the entire Marvel Cinematic Universe as they have to fight against Thanos and his attempts to end the Universe. I’m just excited about the idea of Captain America and Star Lord in the same movie. Avengers: Infinity War comes to theaters May 4, 2018.
Solo: A Star Wars Story
So, the title is a little anticlimactic after months of reading “untitled Han Solo film” on PR bulletins, but we’ll roll with it. Solo: A Star Wars Story of course features the backstory of Han Solo and Chewbacca as they go up against Lando Calrissian. The film comes out May 25, 2018.
Incredibles 2
The first Incredibles movie is basically a teenager at this point. A great deal of adults are more than excited to rush to the sequel, with our without their kids. This go round Elastigirl is out saving the day, and Bob is home with the kids. As no one really knows about Jack Jack’s powers, so Bob is in for an incredible surprise. A new evil surfaces and the family must step up, with the help of Frozone, to save the day. Incredibles 2 comes to theaters (FINALLY) June 15, 2018.
Ant-Man and The Wasp
Evangeline Lilly finally gets a chance to wear the Wasp suit! Scott, also known as Ant-Man, is trying to balance his homelife with his new requirements as a superhero. He is yet again approached by Dr. Hank Pym and his daughter Hope van Dyne. This time, Ant-Man is working along side Hope, aka the Wasp. Ant-Man and The Wasp comes to theaters July 6, 2018.
Christopher Robin
Disney hasn’t included too much on this one so far. This live-action adventure features the beloved characters from the Hundred Acre Woods, including Winnie the Pooh, as they help Christopher Robin to find the boy inside again. Christopher Robin comes to theaters August 3, 2018.
The Nutcracker and the Four Realms
This one looks like a pretty dark take on The Nutcracker story, but we’re digging it. All Clara wants is a key to open a gift from her deceased mother. She is given a gift on Christmas, which leads to the desired key, before it disappears into another realm. Clara goes into the other realm, following some of the most beloved characters of the classic ballet. The Nutcracker and the Four Realms comes to theaters November 2, 2018.
Ralph Breaks the Internet
Ralph Breaks the Internet, known more as Wreck-It Ralph 2, is coming. Ralph and his pals leave the arcade behind and head into the internet to find a replacement part for Vanellope von Schweetz’s video game. Be prepared for a lot of inside jokes about the internet. Ralph Breaks the Internet comes to theaters November 21, 2018.
Mary Poppins Returns
If you’re a fan of Hamilton creator Lin-Manuel Miranda, chances are you’ve been watching out for this one for the better part of a year already. The new film features Emily Blunt as Mary Poppins, with Miranda as a lamp lighter named Jack. While PL Travers wrote multiple Mary Poppins books, until now there has only been the one film from 1964. Mary Poppins Returns comes to theaters Christmas 2018.
