Editor’s Note: This trailer is totally safe for kids and probably safe at your workplace, unless your boss hates penguins.
The new trailer for Disney Nature’s Penguins has totally turned living penguins into what feels like a sitcom about newlyweds with kids, and I’m here for it. Coming next Earth Day (April 22, 2019), the film follows a penguin named Steve and his life in Antarctica. The trailer is so bizarrely cute, with such a strong soundtrack, that you will find yourself walking away from the ad really hoping that Steve is going to make it like some bizarre National Geographic coming of age story. It also doesn’t hurt that they penguin they picked to follow around with cameras is absolutely adorable, with a background of one of the most desolate and coldest places on earth.
Here’s the official synopsis from Disney Nature:
Disneynature’s all-new feature film “Penguins” is a coming-of-age story about an Adélie penguin named Steve who joins millions of fellow males in the icy Antarctic spring on a quest to build a suitable nest, find a life partner and start a family. None of it comes easily for him, especially considering he’s targeted by everything from killer whales to leopard seals, who unapologetically threaten his happily ever after. From the filmmaking team behind “Bears” and “Chimpanzee,” Disneynature’s “Penguins” opens in theaters nationwide in time for Earth Day 2019.
Meet Adélie penguin Steve from Disneynature’s “Penguins.”
