With all due respect, I’m not sure what I just read. It’s 30 years later, and Harley Quinn shaved bald and still fighting. Imagine the recent Mad Max films somehow mixed themselves with Walking Dead and a Lovecraft story. Sound insane? We see Harley at a squid-run restaurant called Kraken Barrel. This is after finding out Power Girl is the President of the United States and zombies have taken over Canada. She and a suited up companion named Red head back to Gotham after being accosted by the Laughing Boys and their claim that the joker is still alive and well.
Thus begins issue #1 of a 5 arc mini-series called Old Lady Harley. There are some funny one-liners all throughout, including Red referring to a robot in a batsuit as “Assassin’s Creed Batman” and the schtick of them eating at a Cracker Barrel knockoff called Kraken Barrel was good for a quick laugh. If you’re a big fan of the Batman Beyond series, you might get a good kick out of this mini-series. If you don’t enjoy the new Harley comics, you may want to skip this one.
