Scarecrows Scares Up Controversy

One of Uncork’d Entertainment’s latest horror films Scarecrows has created controversy after receiving correspondence from people stating teens are trying to recreate the film.

The film Scarecrows, directed by Stu Stone, follows a group of teens who decide it would be a good idea to get high in a cornfield in the middle of the night. Unfortunately they chose the wrong one, where a maniac farmer plucks them off one by one. He tortures and kills each of the stoned teens and the relatively regular blood and gore ensue.

A few weeks ago, director Stu Stone and producer Adam Rodness began to receive a flood of emails. Farmers were expressing their disappointment and anger, as across the country kids were now sneaking into cornfields to try and recreate the events presented in the film. Teens were hoping to provoke the land owners and farmers on the properties, one assumes as a cheap thrill for themselves.

This of course has shaken the creators of the movie, and they have taken it upon themselves to not only calm down the farmers in question, but also release a statement which has been included below:

“Please, while we are incredibly flattered that you liked our film, we implore everyone to not copy what you see on tv or in the movies. Trespassing is illegal and could be outright dangerous. You and your friends could get SHOT AND KILLED, and its just not worth it. We do however encourage everyone to get high and watch the movie from the safety of your own homes!” -Stu Stone, Director, Scarecrows

There is more information regarding the situation at their website here, and a video statement has also been released. Hopefully the kids in question take heed, and everyone enjoys a safe and happy holiday season.

Scarecrows is available on VOD on your favorite streaming platforms.
