Emerald City Comic Con 2019 – Fun and Mayhem

Share

It’s been a month since we attended Emerald City Comic Con. We had a streak of conventions so we took our time to report back on our #ECCC2019 experience this year. So, without further adieu, here is Emerald City Comic Con in a nutshell!

Thursday Recap

If there is one thing we will advise you to do when attending ECCC it’s to VISIT ARTIST ALLEY DAY ONE!!! This is typically located on the 6th floor of the convention center and is ALWAYS packed with attendees. The only day we could easily navigate this hall was Thursday. That’s not to say you can’t visit it the other days…it just you may be elbowing more people than you prefer or intend to. We had the chance to say hello to one of our favorite artists (Skirtzzz) while at ECCC but there were dozens more who have been added to our follow list. Artists seriously brought their A game this year (the variety was fantastic).

Day One is also a good time to peruse the Exhibitor Halls (yes, HALLS, plural). We met a new artist here as well who crafts cute microfiber cloths, hats and bags (Wink Ware).

Friday Recap

Friday was cosplay day. We met with friends, wandered the gardens outside, explored the Star Wars area on the fourth floor and mapped out our panel plans. This was also the day that we tested the limits of ECCC security (which changed quite a bit this year). We learned we could bring prop guns so long as they had an orange cap and were made of plastic or foam. I was also able to walk in with my chain attached to my cosplay without setting off the alarm. Even though we had to go through metal detectors each time we entered the convention the process was expedient and staff were VERY well trained. Kudos to the efficiency of the convention center and the convention staff.

Saturday Recap

Unfortunately this recap is rather short. I became VIOLENTLY ILL due to food poisoning on this day and had to spend a majority of it hidden from the public. I DID manage to record the ECCC masquerade which I will post below. The masquerade was AMAZING and one of my home town cosplayers (Ambrose Cosplay) placed in the top three for sewing. Congrats buddy!

Sunday Recap

I was still very ill on Sunday but I mustered the strength to attend the convention. I joined in on a Disney meetup and had the chance to watch the Rupert Grint Panel (which you’ll find HERE).

I HIGHLY recommend this convention. I also ENCOURAGE you to attend with a group or partner (I had 3-4 people with me at all times). Why? Well, there is safety in numbers BUT more people means you may visit things you never would have otherwise seen. Different perspectives bring different experiences. We’ll post our experience video on https://www.facebook.com/FangirlNationMag/ soon. For more experience content please visit our YOUTUBE CHANNEL where we streamed live Thurs-Sat. Fangirl On!
