With Avengers: Endgame looming close, let’s not forget that Marvel has more to offer in terms of heroes to love and follow. A younger generation of Marvel heroes is teaming up at Marvel HQ.
Marvel HQ is an official Marvel Youtube channel of shorts and goodies featuring Quake, Patriot, Squirrel Girl, Ms. Marvel, Inferno, and Spider Gwen. The cast of characters is growing with the newest short: Marvel Rising: Heart of Iron with Riri a.k.a IronHeart.
At the round table session at Wondercon, we have moments to get to know the voice actors behind some of the characters and to the SVP, Animation and Family Entertainment. It was pretty entertaining to see how close the voice actors resemble their animated heroes. Milana Vyantrub was just as witty and high energy as Squirrel Girl. Kathreen Khavari was just as charming as Ms. Marvel and so full of smiles. Kamil McFadden was the only one who seem the right opposite of the one he voices for, Patriot. Where Patriot is pretty solid and stickler for rules, Kamil seemed to be laidback and ready to try the unknown. Sofia Wylie, who voices, Riri, was just a positive and uplifting source of energy.

Marvel Rising: Heart of Iron is the introduction for Riri a.k.a Ironheart. Riri’s genius mind got her into college but her youth and inexperience has become a barrier around her. She becomes socially isolated and finds her only companion on the AI that lives in a helmet. When Hala the Accuser (voiced by Ming Na) destroys the lab and kidnaps Riri’s friend, Riri follows in the footsteps of Iron Man and becomes a hero.
For the newcomers to Marvel Rising series, these are shorts which center around a newcomer to the super hero group. The dynamic of the group begins shaky as they learn to trust one another and be proud of who they are. There are heavy themes of friendship and trust as they learn to work together. However, the shows are far from being preachy. They are all so entertaining to watch with the humor and characters themselves.
