May 23rd marks the start of Phoenix Fan Fusion 2019! That is only THREE WEEKS and a couple days away! For those of you who are unfamiliar with Fan Fusion…it’s ok. This convention has gone through some name change growing pains. In 2018 the Square Egg Enteratinment company changed their comic event name from Phoenix Comicon to Phoenix Comicfest following a cease and decist letter from San Diego International Comic-Con (SDCC claims they have trademarked the word “Comicon”). Needless to say, “Comicfest’ was NOT a fan favorite. To better suite their theme, Square Egg Entertainment renamed the event again this year to “Phoenix Fan Fusion“. With all of that cleared up, let’s see what this comic convention has in store!

Things to Know
If you are planning on attending this event you should know that it is held in Phoenix, Arizona at the Phoenix Convention Center. The average temperature in Arizona during this event is 95 degrees Fahrenheit. You WILL need sunscreen and you MUST drink water. There are spots all over the convention center with water dispensers and shade. If you are unaccustomed to a dry climate also be prepared to sit often as your muscles adjust to rapid fluid loss.
Now, we are NOT trying to scare you away from this convention. Should the worst happen and you pass out this event has AMAZING on site medical personnel. Heat exhaustion and dehydration are common so they can typically treat on site without calling for an ambulance. Still, it is better to be prepared than caught off guard so bring water with you (this is allowed as long as it is unopened).
You should also know that this convention center uses metal detectors. If you are a cosplayer please visit the Prop Policies Page to determine what you may and may not bring to this event.
