There seems to be little to stop the high-speed train that is Marvel right now. Marvel Studios President Kevin Feige laid out a peak at everything so far planned for Phase 4, including new films and items that will only be available to watch on Disney +.
Here’s a look at what was announced at San Diego Comic Con this weekend:
The Eternals:
This upcoming film features Richard Madden as Ikaris, Kumail Nanjiani as Kingo, Lauren Ridloff as Makkari, Brian Tyree Henry as Phastos, Salma Hayek as Ajak, Lia McHugh as Sprite, Don Lee as Gilgamesh and Angelina Jolie as Thena. The Eternals is planned for theaters November 6, 2020.
THE FALCON AND THE WINTER SOLDIER
The Falcon, aka Sam Wilson, and Bucky Barnes, our dear Winter Soldier, are teaming up for a series that follows Avengers: Endgame. It will be on the Disney + streaming service. The show stars Anthony Mackie as The Falcon, Sebastian Stan as The Winter Solider, and Daniel Brühl returning as Baron Zemo. This is planned to debut fall of 2020.
SHANG-CHI AND THE LEGEND OF THE TEN RINGS
Simu Li will be playing Shang-Chi in the upcoming film of the same name. The film features mostly Chinese actors, especially after the debacle from the first Doctor Strange film. Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings is planned for theaters on February 12, 2021
WANDAVISION
If you’re still hurting about Vision, don’t worry. Paul Bettany and Elizabeth Olson reprise their roles as Vision and Scarlet Witch in the Disney + show, WandaVision. The show will also feature Teyonah Parris, playing the grown up version of Monica Rambeau from Captain Marvel. WandaVision is planned for Spring 2020.
LOKI
I’d be lying if I said Loki wasn’t the show I was most excited about. Tom Hiddleston is coming back as Loki, the god of mischief. A fangirl favorite, his show is set to premiere on Disney+ Spring 2021, and that is may too long a wait.
DOCTOR STRANGE IN THE MULTIVERSE OF MADNESS
Doctor Strange is getting a second film, and rumors have it that the film will be the first “horror” movie in the Marvel Universe. Benedict Cumberbatch will also feature Scarlet Witch. Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness is planned for theaters on May 7, 2021.
WHAT IF…?
The What IF comics were super awesome. Where else could you find out what would happen if Storm was bitten by Dracula? The television series features stories from alternate Marvel Universes. Again planned for only Disney +, the show is going to feature a ton of famous faces and Jeffrey Wright as The Watcher. What If? comes to the lineup in the Summer of 2021.
HAWKEYE
Jeremy Renner isn’t getting a Hawkeye movie, but he is getting a Disney + TV series, so that’s a thing. So far, not too much as been released on this one other than the fact it will involve Kate Bishop and is coming to the streaming service Fall of 20201.
THOR: LOVE AND THUNDER
Thor: Love and Thunder probably has had the most press spotlight on it, as we are getting (surprise) a female Thor (Natalie Portman). Taika Waititi is back to direct the fourth film in the franchise, and he’s bringing back Chis Hemsworth and Tessa Thomson. The film comes to theaters November 5, 2021.
BLACK WIDOW
Black Widow is FINALLY getting a movie. The film of the same name is set for May 1, 2020. It is directed by Cate Shortland and features Scarlett Johansson as Natasha Romanov, David Harbour as Alexei aka The Red Guardian, Florence Pugh as Yelena, O-T Fagbenle as Mason and Rachel Weisz as Melina.
BLADE
Sorry Wesley Snipes. Blade is back, but this time the Daywalker will be played by actor Mahershala Ali. So far a date has not yet been set.
