Magic is currently broken in the Justice League World. In an attempt to Swamp Thing and Constantine Dr. Oleander Sorrel and his wife Natasha have moved into Robb’s End to try and distance themselves from the loss of their son. After Natasha leaves, Dr. Sorrel finds himself transformed into a skeleton shape covered in flowers. Swamp Thing knows how this sort of nightmare transformation occurs, and tries to talk sense into the new King of Petals.
Constantine is a strangely comforting character in this issue and was delightful. Swamp Thing is stern and mysterious. What really shines in this issue is Guillem March’s artwork, and the incredible colorization work by Arif Prianto. Each individual petal and flower is accounted for, which is a difficult task for our skeletal King of Petals.
Justice League Dark Annual #1 is available now from DC comics.
