Sonya Levin. Lois Duncan. Margaret Cavendish. What do these women have in common? These women helped found the genres of Horror and Sci-Fi, but have been pushed to the edge of history to be replaced by their male counterparts. The Forgotten Women of Genre Podcast is done with this nonsense and here to inform us about the important work of women. In a single week, I’ve found myself diving into this podcast with complete love and reckless abandon. This particular week has been focusing on the individual powerhouses that lead to the important works like the film adaptation of Frankenstein, the creation of the Sci-Fi genre, and the creation of the first (and forgotten) female superhero.
I simply adore this podcast. The production quality is great and well-researched. The narrator, Cher Martinetti, has no time for nonsense and gives listeners powerful snippets of the lives of women who I wish we nerds all knew about.
Forgotten Women of Genre is available on all major podcast platforms and is definitely a treat!
