Doctor Shan Fong Mirage and her husband Hwen once had a “halfway” popular television show investigating the paranormal. Well, that was until Hwen died tragically and Doctor Mirage lost all ability to contact the dead. After accidentally blowing up her roof trying to contact the dead, Mirage answers the door to a teenager named Grace. Grace informs her that both she and Doctor Mirage are dead and in hell. That’s why she’s having such a hard time contacting anyone. There’s also the fact that Hwen really wants to talk through Grace to his wife. After showing Doctor Mirage some pretty crazy stuff, she agrees to go along with Grace to explore this crazy realm of hell.
If Egyptian mythos, weird cults, and paranormal television is your thing, Doctor Mirage is strangely hard to put down. This Doctor Mirage collection features issues 1-5. Magdalene Visaggio’s story line is fabulous writing and keeps twisting and turning the reader’s mind. Nick Robles art is fantastically beautiful, and Jordie Bellaire’s color work as always takes the artwork to the next level.
Valiant is often an unsung hero in the comicbook world, and Doctor Mirage is a chance for comic fans to show them some love.
