Myq Kaplan (pronounced Mike) has had me snort laughing for the past hour, and I needed it. His comedy is strangely equally positive and awkward, making is a useful balm when you’re at your wits ends. Kaplan is releasing another album, A.K.A. on record Blonde Medicine. He’s performed on The Tonight Show, Conan, The Late Show…okay, it’s all the late nights.
There are jokes about cheese, jokes about being a vegan, jokes that don’t hate Nickelback, and a whole lot on Ayahuasca. Myq’s comedy is definitely more on the New York easy going vegan side of things. His show was recorded at Edinburgh Fringe Festival in 2018. There are 17 tracks, and I needed all of them. Most of his humor is fairly clean, but still not an album you want to listen to without headphones at work or in front of the kids. It’s sort of like having a really awkward conversation with someone hilarious at a party.
A.K.A. comes out May 8th.
