Just in time for Pride Month, Disney+ has released a new LGBT short, Out.
From Pixar’s SparkShorts, the short is about a young man who has to decide how to tell his family he is gay. It is only a few minutes long (like all the shorts) but it is a powerful few minutes. Disney, has in the past, been accused of queerbaiting and flat out refusing to include substantial queer characters in their larger properties, so even though this is sweet and needed, some people might find it too little, too late. Either way, the story is cute and brought tears when I watched it with my kids.
Out dropped on May 22nd with almost no fanfare.
