Dear Beloved Reader,
This is the Editor-in-Chief speaking. Today FangirlNation is officially 6 years old. This would not be possible without your continued reading, sharing of articles, and just being your awesome selves. Thank you so much for making this possible and continuing to show us love. Our goal was to create a safe place for Fangirls of all ages, all races, all creeds, all sexuality, and all walks of life. We wanted a place where women didn’t feel gate-keepered or have to worry about being questioned for liking what they like.
Well, it seems we are one of those things you like and we couldn’t be more grateful. Today we’ve reviewed hundreds of books, interviewed a ton of amazing folks, and been blessed to show up at conventions with press cred, like we’re cool or something.
Almost 7 years ago, R.C. Samo from FanboyNation.com and I were at a Comic Convention in Las Vegas when he turned to me and said that if I ever wanted to run a FangirlNation just to say the word. A drink may have been involved, but I jumped at the chance and within weeks setup had begun. The amazing Jessica Greenlee and I were soon putting together articles, making PR contacts (and thank you to the people who still send us comics and books), programming the site, and trying to figure out what in the world we were going to do with a website devoted to Fangirls.
Thankfully, we had Sam Kitts to do some artwork for us, giving us the banner and logo you still see today. She’s now our Managing Editor. I am so thankful to Jessica and Sam for keeping us rolling and doing it with a smile. While staff rotates in and out as life allows (believe or not, it’s not just comics and television over here), ever single person has brought something magical to our team.
Toni Adams, Senior Reporter– When we approached Toni about writing for FangirlNation.com her enthusiasm was insanely infectious. She’s been with us ever since and is one of our longest standing writers.
Amanda Conley, Community Manager– Amanda has been amazing as our Prince of Unpopular opinions and opening up our eyes for more inclusion in the Fangirl world. She was recently promoted to Community Manager to see what we can do to communicate better.
Vicki Mejia-Gewe, Queen of Cozy Mysteries– In all honesty, I didn’t know what a cozy mystery or the Malice Domestic was before Vicki. She is kind, funny, and always excited to talk about mystery. She truly cares about others and that comes through in her writing and her interviews with authors.
Sheri Williams, Fabulous Indie Author– When a published author reaches out and say, “I’d like to write for you” you’re lucky. When it’s Sheri you’re completely blessed. Sheri spends her time with us and we are so overjoyed she’s here.
Breanna Bang, Podcasting Champion– Smart, driven, and absolutely awesome, Breanna is one of those people who may not be familiar with a property, but chimes in with her willingness to check it out. Her articles are fabulous and we are lucky to have her.
Ghia Vitale, Kawaii Professional– Girl, thank you. She is our most recent addition to the team, but Ghia is one of the first people to chime in and participate on new comics and shares the Fangirl love all over social media.
Catie Kovelman, Future Media Mogul– Catie is all over the place building an amazing life in media, so we are very lucky to spend the time with her that we do. She started with us when in college, and now she’s a graduate. Congrats and I’m so excited to see where you end up.
Jillian DiBlasio, Contributor Queen– Thank you for being willing to dive into Dark Horse and come in with excellent writing and turn around times that still blow me away.
While that is our current staff, we do have an incredible former staff that I can’t forget.
