Jennifer Hudson to Bring Aretha Franklin to the Screen in Biopic ‘Respect’

Director Liesel Tommy and a star-studded cast bring the story of Aretha Franklin in the upcoming film Respect. The film stars Jennifer Hudson as Aretha and follows her from her start singing in church to becoming the Queen of Soul. Liesel Tommy was the first ever Black woman nominated for a Tony award for Best Direction of a Play for Eclipsed in 2016.
