Ash & Thorn Vol 2 is a continuation of the adventures of Lottie and Peruvia. We fall back into the lives of the older generation of heroes to find them arguing, like they do. I love the dynamic between them. You wouldn’t know that they’d just met, since they argue like long time best friends or sisters.
In this issue we also meet a new character, a absolutely delightful Fey named Pickle. When Peruvia goes in search of help, she meets Pickle, who at first doesn’t seem interested in helping, but eventually decides to join the cause. It makes the duo a sort of, unlikely, not really friendly trio, and really only adds good thing to the story. I still am not sure if Pickle is going to turn out to be truly bad or sorta good, or maybe just chaotic evil.
In this issue we also get to see Sarah more. I like the Sarah character because where she would usually be the champion, in this, she’s almost the ‘too stupid to live’ character. She keeps sticking her nose where it doesn’t belong, and this time, it almost ends really badly.
Two issues in, I’m still really digging this story. I swear it’s like the writer sort of dug into my brain and pulled out a story made perfectly for me. I giggle and I look forward to each new issue and I cannot wait to see how it all ends. Lottie is officially my hero.
