Ready to hear the other voices in the DC Universe?
Coming November 24, 2020, The Other History of the DC Universe will provide new perspectives from traditionally disenfranchised groups. This five-issue series will center around the stories of Jefferson Pierce, a.k.a. Black Lightning; his daughter Anissa, also known as Thunder; Mal Duncan (Herald) and his wife, Karen Beecher (Bumblebee); Renee Montoya (the Question); and Tatsu Yamashiro (Katana).
The series will be written by John Ridley who is an award-winning screenwriter known for his work on 12 Years a Slave, Guerrilla, American Crime). Joining him on the creative team will be artists Giuseppe “Cammo” Camuncoli, Andrea Cucchi, and colorist José Villarrubia.
“Following the American Way sequel, I was eager to tell a different story in the DC Universe, one that spotlights heroes who operate outside the prevailing culture…Considering the events of the last few months, I don’t think there has been a more urgent need to see the world through a variety of lenses and perspectives. The issue will debut on November 24 at open and operating comic book stores and participating digital retailers. New issues will ship bimonthly, and the series will carry DC’s Black Label content descriptor, with content appropriate for readers ages 17+.
